The quantity of test points required for a harness is the quantity of all pins (cavities) in every connector in the harness. All pins (cavities) are counted regardless if there is an actual wire inserted in the cavity.
The below example requires 8 test points, even though there are only 3 harness wires inserted into 6 pins (cavities). It is important to connect all pins (cavities) to the NX Tester to assure that extra wires are not included in the harness. This practice also makes it easier for future revision changes that would add wires to initially unused pins.
In addition, test points are also required for any fixture block detection switches.
